Question 1

Accepted Answer

Grow Sarracenia rubra in full sun with at least six hours of direct light daily. Plant them in a mix of peat moss and sand or perlite, and keep the soil constantly moist with rainwater or distilled water.

How to care for Sarracenia rubra?

Provide strong sunlight, damp acidic soil, and pure water. Do not fertilize, since they gain nutrients from insects. In winter, allow the plant to go dormant by keeping it cool and reducing growth until spring.

Accepted Answer

Yes, they are perennials. They die back in winter and return with fresh pitchers each spring, often lasting for many years with proper care.

Question 4

What type of soil is best for it?

Accepted Answer

The best soil is a low-nutrient mix, typically half peat moss and half sand or perlite. Avoid garden soil or compost, which can harm the plant.
