Question 1

Is Arugula a herb?

Accepted Answer

Arugula (Eruca vesicaria) is primarily grown as a leafy green vegetable rather than a herb. While it has a peppery flavor like some herbs, it is typically harvested for its leaves rather than used primarily for seasoning.

Question 2

How often should I water it?

Accepted Answer

Arugula prefers evenly moist soil. Water lightly but regularly, about 1–2 times per week depending on rainfall and temperature, ensuring the soil does not dry out completely or become waterlogged.

Question 3

When is the best time to harvest leaves?

Accepted Answer

Harvest young leaves when they are 2–4 inches long for a tender, mild flavor. You can cut outer leaves continuously while leaving the center to grow for multiple harvests.

Question 4

How much sunlight does it need?

Accepted Answer

Arugula grows best in full sun, about 6 hours per day. In hot climates, partial shade in the afternoon helps prevent bolting and keeps the leaves tender.
